Clinical Examination:

- You may be asked to perform simple movements to assess posture and mobility.
- If needed, your osteopath may request you to remove some clothing, but gowns are available if you prefer. You’re welcome to bring a friend or relative for support.

Diagnosis and Treatment Plan: Your osteopath will explain their findings, discuss a tailored treatment plan, and outline the expected benefits and potential risks.

What Does Treatment Involve?

Treatment includes hands-on techniques such as:

Gentle manipulation and mobilisation of the spine and and other joints.
Massage of soft tissues to reduce tension and spasm.
Cranial Osteopathy, which uses light pressure on the head and spine, helping many patients feel deeply relaxed (some even fall asleep!).

Is Referral from a Doctor necessary?

Most patients ‘self-refer’ to an osteopath for treatment. Although referral by a GP is not necessary, you are encouraged to keep your GP fully informed, so that your medical records are current and complete. This will ensure you receive the best possible care from both health professionals. If you wish, your osteopath can send a report to your GP with details of your condition and treatment. You can also request a letter for your employer if this is helpful and we can provide recognised sick notes where appropriate.
